Highway Cleanup Yields Lost Wallet
During their semi-annual Adopt-a-Highway cleanup day, staff at Weber State Credit Union are accustomed to finding unusual items on the side of Highway 39 in Huntsville. In past cleanups, credit union staff members have found tires, windshields, cans, bones and diapers on the road side, but during this Highway cleanup, the crew found a more unusual item: a wallet lost over nine months ago.

David Davis of Centerville was at a Huntsville gas station filling up two personal watercraft last August and left his wallet on top of one of the machines. Shortly after he left the gas station, his wallet fell off the watercraft and onto the side of the road. “I didn’t know what to do, my entire life was in that wallet.” said Davis.

During the spring Adopt-a-Highway day, Weber State Credit Union employees found the wallet, complete with driver’s license, credit and debit cards, certification cards and over $170 in cash. Credit union staff tracked down Davis to return the wallet and belongings on Monday. “I can’t believe that my wallet was found after 9 months, I thought for sure it was gone for good.” ember of the Board of Directors, and Craig Dearden was re-elected during the meeting.

Limits on Electronic Account Transfers

Regulation D impacts the number of transactions WSCU may allow on your deposit accounts. The Regulation was implemented by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, whose job ensures that financial institutions maintain adequate reserves for the funds they have on deposit.

Federal Regulation D places a monthly limit on the number of transfers you may make from your Savings Accounts or Money Market accounts (MMAs) without requiring your physical presence. Transfers affected by this regulation therefore include:
* Transfers made singE-Branch (Internet banking) or telephone banking
* Overdraft transfers (made automatically to cover insufficient funds in other accounts)
* Pre-authorized, automatic, scheduled or recurring transfers (see below).

You are allowed six electronic or automatic transfers per month, per account. To enforce compliance with Regulation D, Weber State Credit Union assesses a $5.00 charge for each transfer made from your Savings or Money Market accounts that exceed the Regulation D limits.

Regulation D does not apply to checking accounts, loan payments (between suffixes on one member number) or balance inquiries. Also, there are no limitations to the number of transactions that you handle on any account in person, by mail or through an ATM.   For questions regarding Regulation D, please contact our Help Desk at (801) 399-9728.
